Grow Strong Leaders: 360 Survey Application

The Challenge

Grow Strong Leaders ran their 360-degree feedback product, GSL 360, on an aging desktop application. Surveys had to be built in the desktop client, then manually uploaded and synced to a web server before anyone could actually take them, an extra step that slowed everything down and introduced room for error.

  • No mobile client, so participation was tied to a desktop
  • Reports looked dated and were hard to read
  • Debugging a problem with a survey inside the legacy system was slow and difficult
  • For a small team, the software had simply become too cumbersome to maintain or improve

The Build

BuildCompliantApps rebuilt GSL 360 as a fully cloud-based application, no desktop client, no manual sync step. The rebuild included:

  • The full 360-feedback workflow, projects, subjects, raters, and the relationships between them, managed entirely online
  • Modern, automated report generation replacing the old dated report format
  • An automated email system handling survey invitations and reminders, with personalized, tracked delivery
  • A dashboard for the Grow Strong Leaders team to track outstanding tasks and follow up on survey and project health
  • A database structure built for fast, traceable debugging, a direct fix for what had been one of the legacy system's biggest pain points

Where It's Headed

The relationship hasn't stopped at replacing the old system. It has continued for nearly three years, with the platform evolving as GSL 360's needs have grown. The current chapter, now nearing completion: AI-powered analysis of survey results using Claude, chosen for delivering more precise, usable output than earlier alternatives explored. The integration personalizes each participant's results and generates targeted recommendations from Grow Strong Leaders' companion product, GSL SkillBuilder, turning each 360 report's findings directly into a next step, and creating a natural bridge between GSL 360 and SkillBuilder.
